Red Carpet Review: People’s Choice Awards 2012

13 Jan

It’s that time of year again…award season is upon us! Red carpets are being rolled out across Hollywood and celebrities are carefully choosing what to wear as they grace it with their presence. I’ll be doing a few posts covering the red carpet fashion of the major awards shows this year, but I can not possibly cover all of them. Did you know there are twenty awards programs for celebrities? Not really, but it’s got to be something like 20. These people really love awarding themselves. Shouldn’t there be an awards show for doctors, humanitarians or social workers?

Anyway, I love watching awards shows. I’ll admit, I mostly tune in for the fashion – I love to see the celebrities and who looks good, who looks bad, and who just looks wacky.

Remember this?

This year the festivities were kicked off with the People’s Choice Awards, which aired this past Wednesday, January 11 on CBS.  These awards honor favorites in film, television and music and are voted and decided by us – the little people. While this isn’t one of the major awards shows, a considerable amount of A-listers showed up, looking fashionable and ready for a critique. And here is mine!

Loved It:

Miley Cyrus in David Koma

Emma Stone in Gucci

Kaley Cuoco in Badgley Mischka

Alyson Hannigan in Alice + Olivia

Whitney Cummings in ASOS

Julianne Hough in Kaufman Franco

Ashley Benson in Alice + Olivia

Loathed It:

Ashley Greene in DKNY

Lucy Hale in Cengiz Abazoglu

Jennifer Lawrence in Viktor & Rolf

Jennifer Morrison in Oscar de la Renta

Kristen Bell in Valentino

Carrie Preston (no idea what this is)

And Finally…

What The Heck Was She Thinking?:

Courtney Coleman (no idea what this is, either)

I was a little disappointed by the red carpet fashion at the People’s Choice Awards this year. There seemed to be more worst dressed than best dressed, in my opinion. And there were a lot that just didn’t stand out to me at all. Green and pink are definitely becoming a trend and we may see more of that at the next few shows. Next up are the Critic’s Choice Awards (which aired last night) and the Golden Globes on Sunday. I love the Golden Globes!  It is one of the more reliable shows for red carpet fashion so I’m really looking forward to that one. Stay tuned for more red carpet reviews!

What did you think about the fashion of the People’s Choice Awards this year? Who do you think was the best and worst dressed?

I agree about Alysson Hannigan with her cute little belly! She looked great!
