Character Fashion Inspiration: Allie (Rachel McAdams) from “The Notebook”

28 Apr

You may remember from my recent post that I am in to all things vintage. You may also remember that I am a huge fan of the movie The Notebook.  Combine the two and I am obviously going to love the fashion from that movie. The Notebook, which is based on the novel by Nicholas Sparks, follows the epic love story of Noah and Allie, whose romance lasts a lifetime and breaks all the rules of their disapproving social classes. The majority of the film takes place in a small South Carolina town during the summer  of 1940 – the perfect setting for some retro dresses and vintage swimsuits.

Rachel McAdams plays Allie, and I’m pretty sure that Rachel gets some of the best gigs in Hollywood in terms of film fashion. Remember her character Inez from Midnight in Paris? Well, in The Notebook Allie is the daughter of a very wealthy family and she obviously gets to go shopping at the best stores.

I love her flirty dresses, the sweet accessories and that vintage two piece bathing suit is adorable. Her makeup always involves a lot of lip color and dramatic eye liner, keeping up with the trend of the glamorous 1940’s. And her hair styles are dainty and feminine, always giving the impression that she spent a little extra time on herself that morning. Wouldn’t it be great to look like that everyday?

Allie’s soft, ladylike fashion inspires me to wear more dresses and skirts and to add more vintage to my wardrobe. Here are some outfit ideas inspired from The Notebook that I think Allie would approve of.

I LOVE Rachel McAdams but I refuse to watch The Notebook because I know I will cry for days and then have dreams about it…smh… anywho…

I’ve nominated you for ‘The Versatile Blogger Award’… for more information check out my blog post at http://lolosofocused.wordpress.com/2012/05/01/me-versatile-why-thank-you/

But here are the rules as well.

If you choose to accept my nomination of your awesomeness you must:
-Add the award to your blog.
-Thank the blogger who gave it to you and include a link to their blog.
-Mention 7 random things about yourself.
    -List the rules.
-Give the award to 15 or more bloggers

*Even if you don’t have 15 that’s cool but still let someone else know you like their blog… You could very well make their day!*
